Rabbit Cloning Board
The Rabbit Cloning Board is ideal for copying compiled software programs or designated portions of flash from one Rabbit-based board to another. This enables fast compiling and loading of master programs to other boards without the need for a PC.
The cloning board is easy to use — attach one of its cables to a master board with a compiled program and the other cable to a target board. A press of the reset master pushbutton on the cloning board will begin the process of program transfer to the target board.
Key Benefits
* Replaces PC as primary tool for loading programs, reducing required workspace
* High-speed data transfer occurs at up to 921,600 bps, saving time
* Flashing LED alerts operator when cloning is complete
* Ideal as a low-volume cloning production tool
Functionally, it is quite simple — cloning is enabled by setting a macro at the top of the master board's BIOS. The master board sends its entire BIOS to the board being cloned, where the boot program receives it and stores it in RAM. A CRC check of the BIOS is performed on both the master and clone and results are compared. The clone is then reset, the BIOS begins running, and the master begins sending data at high speed. Once the entire Flash contents are transferred (except the system ID block), an LED on the cloning board comes on steady.
